Introduction:
The 2004 UK-China Workshop on Nature Inspired Computation and Applications
will be held on October 25-29, 2004 at the University of Science and Technology
of China (USTC), P. R. China. The aim of this workshop is to make closer collaboration
between scientists from UK and China in the area of Nature Inspired Computation.
This workshop provides a good opportunity in establishing a long term relationship
between scientists from the two countries.
This workshop will be held in conjunction with the 2004 International
Workshop on Nature Inspired Computation and Applications (IWNICA'2004). For

Monday (25/10/04)
• 08:30-09:30: Registration and tea.
• 09:30-10:00: Introduction by the President of USTC, the UK and Chinese
organizers
• 10:00-12:00: Two presentations (1 hour each including question/discussion
time)
• 12:00-14:00: Lunch break
• 14:00-16:00: Two presentations (1 hour each including question/discussion
time)
• 16:00-16:30: Afternoon break
• 16:30-17:30: One presentation (1 hour including question/discussion
time)
Tuesday-Thursday (26-28/10/04): Theme days on Nature Inspired Optimisation,
Nature Inspired Learning and Nature Inspired Design. A workshop dinner will
be held on Wednesday (27/10/04).
• 08:30-10:30: Two presentations (1 hour each including question/discussion
time)
• 10:30-11:00: Morning break
• 11:00-12:00: One presentation (1 hour including question/discussion
time)
• 12:00-14:00: Lunch break
• 14:00-16:00: Two presentations (1 hour each including question/discussion
time)
• 16:00-16:30: Afternoon break
• 16:30-17:30: Focused discussion on potential research project ideas
or proposals
Friday (29/10/04)
• 08:30-12:00: Research visit to different laboratories and departments
within USTC
• 12:00-14:00: Lunch break
• 14:00-17:00: Visit the Hefei High-Tech R&D Park
